Discovery + Design

This project began with a thorough audit of the existing information architecture of parter accounts and organizations, and the ways that complex and simple org trees differ. I created files in Figjam and Miro with several pages of in-depth notes on EG's accounts hierarchy and market research reports on how complex orgs are handled across other large enterprise products.

The issue to be addressed was spotty and inconsistent logic with how accounts are nested within large organizational structures, and corresponding problems on sign-in and select account workflows: differing behavior when using expand/collapse interactions within an org tree, or when searching within an org.

I created charts and wireframe prototypes that I presented in a proposal to project stakeholders, which included a re-design of key components on the select account page, and addressed new interactions for navigating partner accounts, search behavior within org hierarchies, and the metadata displayed on the individual account cards that make up those hierarchies.

Design & Prototype

I created wireframes, component libraries, and finally hi-res prototypes that re-invisioned included a re-design of key components on the select account page, and addressed new interactions for navigating partner accounts, search behavior within org hierarchies, and the metadata displayed on the individual account cards that make up those hierarchies. I then worked cross-functionally with developers to ensure the proposed changes were implemented correctly.

As a result, partner accounts were re-indexed following new proposed hierarchical logic, with additional search functionality and page interactions added to select account workflows. These improvements led to clearer organization workflows and less visual clutter on choose account/switch account pages, so that partners could more easily scan and locate desired accounts.

Partner Hierarchy
Re-design

Problem

The way that partner accounts are structured and indexed on the back end creates issues for users of the EG Console product when attempting to log into their account or switch accounts within a larger organization, and leads to unclear logic when user collapses org chart, searches within org, etc.

To re-index the way that partners, orgs, and sub-orgs stack within the partner hierarchy information architecture. To re-design functionality of the choose/switch account experiences within EG Console, to follow clear and consistent parent/child logic that provides an accurate and scannable view of an org's structure.
